The table below shows a list of Booker winners. A red tick indicates that book was read by one of this site's reviewers prior to its creation, so no review currently exists for it. A blue tick indicates the book was reread by a reviewer for review on this website. A green tick indicates the book was read for the first time for review on this website. Books highlighted by a light blue background have been awarded the Booker International Prize. Books highlighted by a green background have won other special Booker prizes.
Our list contains all the Booker winners since 1969 when the award began. Originally, the Booker was awarded only to writers from the Commonwealth, Ireland and Zimbabwe. However, since 2014 any English language book published anywhere has been eligible, so long as it is also published in the United Kingdom. This has opened the way to American winners like George Saunders.
Our list only includes winners of the International Booker since 2016. In 2016 the International award was changed to recognise a single novel in translation. Prior to 2016 the International award had been given every two years between 2005 and 2015 to a living author of any nationality for a body of work that demonstrated continued creativity, development and overall contribution to fiction on the world stage.
We have chosen not to cover those years since a body of work by each selected author would be burdensome for us.
In the long term, we hope to review all the Man Booker Prize winners in our list.
